Download The Nevada County Sportsmen Club (NCSC) provides a safe environment for the youth of our community through the following programs; Archery, Sports Shooting, Hunter Education and 4-H.
4-H is held on the 2nd Saturday of every month between October-June (excluding December). Activities include Archery/Rifle/Pistol/Trap (see below). Lunch is provided however donations are greatly appreciated. All Children interested in shooting Rifle/Pistol/Trap must complete a 3 hour safety class that is held in October and November. Live fire for Rifle and Pistol is limited to .22 cal rifles. The program provides all equipment and ammunition, if a 4-H member wants to bring a personal Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun they are welcome but each firearm must be checked out by an instructor. Please do not bring ammunition, this is all provided at no cost.
4-H Pistol is part of the 4-H shooting program for ages 12 through high school. All participants must participate in at least one year of rifle training to qualify for pistol.
4-H Trap shoot starts at 10:00 AM.
4-H Rifle/Pistol starts at 10:00 AM for returning shooters, the 10:00-12:00 time period is to help more experienced shooters with accuracy and skills work. Shooting will resume after the lunch break and meeting and will continue until 4:00 pm. Students learn firearm safety, shooting positions and technique, live fire practical experience and are given the opportunity to compete in a state wide postal shoot.
4-H Archery starts at 8:30 AM and is not only an entry level program, it provides training and practical experience for ages 9 through high school. If you missed the safety class you will only be able to participate in the Archery portion of the 4-H program. 4-H Archery Sports Shooting starts at 9:00 AM for ages 9 through High School. Students will shoot on the archery practice range or on one of the 14 target walking courses and are given the opportunity to compete in a state wide postal shoot.
JOAD Archery - is a youth archery program designed to teach both basic and advanced shooting skills. Training includes the proper care and handling of all shooting equipment, safe use of long bows, recurve and compound bows as well as adjustment and fitting of equipment, matching arrows with the bow, finger and mechanical release technique and all safety concerns.
Gold Team Archery is for the more advanced shooters with a wide range of age group. Participants will compete all over the country. Please contact the club house at (530) 265-5131 for more information
